Easy. Simply tear a 3cm opening at the top of the pouch, heat for 2 minutes in the microwave or on the hob, decant into a bowl and enjoy!
Absolutely nothing! Lots of people enjoy fiid from a bowl with just a spoon but don't let that stop your creative juices from flowing. We really meant it when we said that these are versatile! Our bowls are perfect for adding to pasta, rice, veggies, potatoes - you name it, someone has tried it!
All our bowls are made from 100% natural ingredients that you would cook with yourself at home - vegetables, legumes, herbs and spices. You won't find anything artificial or that you can't pronounce. With fiid, there's nothing added except time (ours though, because you're busy. we get it.)
Oh yes! Fiid's mission is to make healthy everyday meals easy for everyone so we work hard to make sure each fiid bowl contains only natural, plant-based ingredients that you can actually pronounce - think lots of things that you have at home in your kitchen and none of what you learned about in chemistry. We only ever use natural ingredients with zero additives, preservatives or fillers. Using this simple philosophy we make it easy for you to understand our nutrition labels and to eat well, always.
Yes, all fiid products are certified gluten-free by ALS laboratories. All of our ingredients are naturally gluten-free and our bowls are made on a gluten-free line in our kitchen to avoid the risk of cross-contamination.
We place the fresh ingredients in our fiid pouch, seal it and then cook it gently to perfection in a hot water bath. This extends the shelf life of each meal naturally, without any additives or preservatives which means that your fiid can be stored in your pantry, ready for when you need it.
There's another important reason why we cook our bowls this way - Food Waste. Over one third of all food produced goes to landfil and throughthis cooking method, we've totally eliminated Food Waste from our supply chain.
We get that plastic is public enemy number 1 but plastic also provides a huge number of benefits. In the case of fiid, we chose plastic for our pouches because of the unique barrier it provides enabling us to extend the shelf life of our products naturally without any additives or preservatives.
This way we avoid contributing to the global food waste issue - 6.7% of greenhouse gas emissions globally come from wasted food. To put this in context: it’s around three times the global emissions from aviation. Yes, you read that correctly.
Or, if we were to put it in the context of national emissions, it would be the world’s third largest emitter. Only China (21%) and the United States (13%) emitted more.
Although not fully recyclable, our packaging is better for the environment by providing a low carbon footprint- it weighs less, uses less energy to produce and is easier for transport. We recently conducted a product carbon footprint analysis, and our packaging made up less than 9% of our total footprint. It's not perfect but right now, no superior alternative exists that can provide these sustainability benefits to us however we'll continue working with suppliers until one does.
